The Wauseon Indians Boys Cross Country team won its first ever Regional Championship on Saturday. The team will be making it second appearance at the State meet with the last one being in 2004.
Taking the individual title and leading the way for the Indians was Braden Vernot. This is the first individual regional champion the Indians have had since Quintin Reiser did it in 2013. Following behind Vernot were Jack Callan (3rd) and Hunter Wasnich (9th). Both of those young men were individual state qualifiers as well. Aidan Pena finished 17th and rounding out the top five was Carter Nofziger placing 52nd. Layton Willson and Joseph Perez rounded out the Indians top seven.
The Indians competed very wisely today. They ran with great confidence today and it was really a culmination of the hard work they have put in at practice this year.
