Multiple Teams · Wrestling team wins 5th straight NWOAL title


The wrestling team had placers in all of the 14 weight classes, highlighted by 6 NWOAL champions, to win their 5th straight NWOAL Championship.  It is the 16th league wrestling championship in school history.  The team scored 260 points to take the title followed by Delta with 232.5, and Liberty Center with 182.5 points.  The remaining order of finish was Archbold, Evergreen, Bryan, Swanton, Montpelier, and Patrick Henry.

 

Damon Molina, ’21 led the charge and was the champion at 120 pounds.  It was his 2nd NWOAL title  Connor Twigg, ’22 won for the 2nd straight season at 152 pounds and Collin Twigg, ’23 followed his runner up finish in 2020 with this year’s title at 106 pounds.  John Martinez, ’22, (113 pounds), Zaden Torres, ’23, (126 pounds), and Austin Kovar, ’24, (170 pounds) were all first time champions.

 

 

NWOAL Runner ups included Lawson Grime, ’22 (132), Zaidan Kessler, ’23 (160), and Jaden Banister, ’21 (285).

 

Rounding out the placers for the Indians were 3rd place finishers, Manny Gante, ’23 (138), Connor Nagel, ’22 (145), and Justin Duncan, ’23 (182).  Jack Shema, ’21 (195) and Ethan Kessler, ’21 (220) each placed 4th.
