Boys Varsity Cross Country · Vernot leads the Boys Cross Country team to the NWOAL Championship

The boys cross country team outdistanced the field to claim the NWOAL Championship last Saturday at Delta HS.  The team’s 27 points surpassed 2nd place Archbold with 62 points.  Liberty Center (77) and Bryan (82) rounded out the top 4 teams.  The team’s 27 points is the lowest score at the NWOAL meet since 2014 when Liberty Center scored 23..
Braden Vernot ’21 repeated as the NWOAL Champion with a time of 16:01.76.  He won the race by over 20 seconds.  Jack Callan ’23 (4th), Hunter Wasnich ’22 (5th), Aidan Pena ’23 (6th), and Carter Nofziger ’22 (11th) rounded out the scoring for the Indians.  Other team members included Layton Willson ’21 (27th), Joseph Perez ’23 (31st), Garrett Leininger ’24 (41st), Anthony Cheezan ’22 (42nd), and Levi Short ’24 (52nd).
