Indians News · Wauseon eyeing a reopening of school sports on June 1

The Wauseon Athletic Department, administration and head coaches will be meeting the week of May 26 to formulate our plans for a safe and responsible reopening of school sports with an anticipated start date of Monday, June 1.  We have been receiving guidance from the Governor’s office, the Ohio Department of Health, the Fulton County Health Department, the National Federation of High Schools, and the Ohio High School Athletic Association.  We will use this guidance as a framework for our reopening.

On May 21 the Governor’s office announced that the school closure order is being amended.  In response, the OHSAA has lifted the no-contact period for school coaches.  These announcements will permit our teams to resume workouts, however, competition is still not permitted.  Understand that as things begin to reopen, it does not mean things will reopen as we used to know them.  There will be a new set of protocols that coaches and athletes will need to follow.  This situation seems to be very fluid with updates and changes occurring almost daily.  Please be patient as we work our way through this time.  We will do our best to provide our athletes with safe and appropriate opportunities.
We look forward to being able to work with our student-athletes once again.  GO INDIANS!
