Wauseon High School Seniors Lexi Sauber and Michael Cheezan are the top performers in their respective sports in the NWOAL. Over the weekend, Lexi was named the NWOAL Player of the Year in volleyball while Michael won the NWOAL Cross Country Championship.
Lexi has now been named the NWOAL Volleyball Player of the Year for two consecutive years (2018 and 2017). She earned NWOAL Honorable Mention recognition her sophomore season. Earlier this year, Lexi recorded her 1000th career kill and was a part of the team winning a share of the NWOAL Championship for the first time since 1993. Lexi plans to continue her volleyball career at Bowling Green State University.
Michael won the NWOAL Cross Country meet by 3 seconds finishing with a time of 17:11.57 seconds on the course at the Archbold Reservoir. Michael has now earned NWOAL honors in all 4 years of cross country finishing 8th in 2017, 9th in 2016 (both 2nd team NWOAL honors), and 21st his freshman year (HM NWOAL).
